Lakshmi Vilas Palace Vadodara timings, 2019 entry fees and audio device guide

Welcome Board
In my earlier post, I had given a useful guide for first time visitors to Lukshmi Vilas Palace, Baroda. Now here's information on the timings when it is open to the public, the entry ticket fees and useful information on the audio device which guides you through the wonderful tour of the Palace.

You can either purchase an entry ticket only for the tour of the Palace or purchase a combo ticket of both, a tour of the Palace and of the nearby Fatesingh museum as well.

The audio guide
The tickets are non-refundable and include the audio. However, if the audio is lost or damaged in any way, you will be fined a very steep penalty of Rs.3,500/-, so take good care of it and ensure that you return it before exiting.

The audio device is like a pen drive with ear phones attached. It is available in English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati and French. It is not given at the ticket window, but in an office after you enter. You have to enter the names of the people in your group who will take the audio, a number is given for the audio device and, on returning it, the number on the device gets registered again as returned. The audio is of one hour duration. Add another half an hour to it and that would be the approximate time of the entire tour.

An oversight on our part was that on the Board outside the ticket window, it was mentioned that an audio was also available for the Museum at an extra charge, but unfortunately we noticed this bit of information only days later, when we looked through our photos! So we had not really asked about it, whether it was included in the combo ticket price we bought or we had to pay for it separately at the museum counter later.

Rules and instructions for visitors to Lakshmi Vilas Palace
Please pay attention to the notice boards and adhere to the rules.

Photography and videography is strictly prohibited inside the premises, so once inside keep your phones and tabs off. However, photos outside are permitted. Here are some snapshots while we walked up the long driveway to the ticket counter -

Outside food and beverages are not permitted within the palace, so leave them in your vehicle if you have brought any. Your bags will be checked at the entry point to the Palace. Note that at the very end, when the audio ends and you exit from the Durbar Hall, there is a small counter selling general snacks and pastries as well as bottled drinking water. Wash room facilities are also available at this point.

Do not litter, do not throw things around and keep the premises clean. Do not touch any of the objects and sculptures inside or outside and maintain decency and decorum. Avoid talking loudly, allowing children to run around unattended and generally creating a nuisance and spoiling the experience for others.

Enjoy every moment of your exciting tour of Lakshmi Vilas Palace!
