Visiting Rani Sipri Mosque Ahmedabad

One of the recommended tourist places to visit on the travel itinerary to Ahmedabad is the Rani Sipri Masjid.
The Rani Sipri Masjid (mosque) was built in 1514 A.D. by Rani Sabrai, widow of Sultan Mahmud Shah I Begada, during the reign of Sultan Muzzafar Shah II.
The designs with a lot of floral motifs reflect feminine grace and the beautiful, intricate sculptural work has given the mosque the title of 'Masjid-e-Nagina'.&nbsp

The slender minarets of the mosque blend harmoniously with the prayer hall. Take a close look at the beautiful work of the artisans on the minartes and on the various walls of the tomb and mosque.

In front of the mosque is a square tomb with stone screens through which the light from outside percolates. The inner square of 12 pillars rises to a height of two stories and at the very top is a single dome. It is believed that the main grave within the tomb is that of Rani Sabrai.
There is an ablution tank just within the entrance, on the right side.

Tips for Visitors
The mosque is known to locals and auto drivers as ‘Rani Masjid’ (Queen’s mosque).
You can visit the mosque daily, from 5a.m. to 8p.m.
Leave your footwear just inside the gate, before going up the steps.
Photography is allowed of the exterior. Do not step into the prayer hall or the tomb premises.

Location

Rani Sipri Masjid is located at Astodia, approximately one km. from the Ahmedabad railway station.
