Visiting the Colombo Centre Mall Lisbon - main attractions

Planning to visit the Centro Colombo shopping mall in Lisbon, Portugal? There's more than meets the eye at the Colombo Centre Mall than glitzy shops and fine dining restaurants - the interiors of the mall itself!

Brace your neck to look up to the soaring domed roof, swivel it around the magnificent spread of the interior layout in general and drop it to look at the mosaic floors.

You will be impressed by the contemporary architectural style, credited to architect José Quintela da Fonseca, which at the same time retains the old world charm of the era of wonderful explorations & discoveries. You will see quaint names of streets of a bygone past amidst familiar names of contemporary branded products and services in the shops and fine dining areas.

Let's start, though, with the exterior -
On the outside, the Centro Colombo shopping mall looks like the type of building one would associate with, say, a Parliament House or a university campus. The below image is a typical photo you would see tourists clicking away of the mall exterior!

Outside are a garden and fountains -

Step in and start those neck exercises mentioned earlier, as you begin by looking upwards first, to the soaring dome -

Capture on camera the unusual flowers, butterflies and soaring bird-like structures which surround the lighting systems -

And whoever thought arrows (top and below images) could be so beautifully dashing as they pirouette around!

More images of the interior which will cause that neck swivelling!

Don't forget what's beneath your feet -

And, of course, there are the shops -

Most footfalls are generally at these places in the Centro Colombo shopping mall:
  • FNAC on Level 1 - The famous French retail store housing books, CDs, video games and all things electronic
  • Primark on Level 2 - Well-know for its clothing for all age groups, including for babies
  • Continente on the Ground floor - The super market where you can load up on provisions and food items, including for pets
  • Disney Store and Toys "R" Us, both on the Ground floor - The names are enough, no explanation needed for who would love these stores!
There are quite a few hair and beauty salons, as also a health and fitness club, not to mention stores selling makeup, sports goods and perfumes.

Of course, no mall is complete without a large food court and Centro Colombo shopping mall in Lisbon is no exception. Located on the third floor, you can also opt to have just a healthy glass of juice. Then there are cafes, places to quaff a beer and fine dining restaurants spread out over the three levels of the mall.

If movies are what you would like to enjoy, the Centro Colombo shopping mall has an IMAX multiplex theatre as well, where the films are screened with sub-titles. There is also a bowling alley of about 20 lanes on Level 2 and a pool table in the Fun Zone area. Speaking of the Fun Zone, there is a cyber cafe here as well for surfing the Net. One of the most fascinating things of the Centro Colombo shopping mall is the roller coaster - imagine having one indoors!

Of course, there are customer service points everywhere to help you negotiate your way around.
