Countries where visa on arrival is given for Indians

For globe trotters from India there are places you can visit without the hassle of trying to get a visa on time before you take off. There are lots of countries which offer Visa on Arrival (known as VOA) for Indian citizens. These are mainly available at the airport where you land and a nominal fee is charged. If the country has more than one airport, you need to find out at which airport you can get the VOA. In some countries the fee is waived & you get the VOA free on arrival. However, you do need to confirm if there are any specific requirements, such as having a valid passport for a required number of months.


Given below is a list of countries which offer Indian travellers a Visa on Arrival (VOA). Readers are advised to confirm the details with the local embassy / tourism board.

Antarctica: You do not need a visa but a permit. You will need a passport for the countries from where you board your flight or cruise ship. You will also need visas for those places where will be stopping on route whether planned or not (in case poor weather conditions arise for example, you may halt somewhere).

Albania: You can get a VOA but only if you are having an official letter issued by the Albanian Ministry of Interior which states that a visa will be available on your arrival.

Azerbaijan: You can get a VOA if you having an official letter of invitation which has been pre-cleared.

Requirements: Your passport must be valid for minimum 6 months after the expiry date of the Azerbaijani visa applied for.

Andorra: It is located between Spain and France. You need a Schengen visa. [note: Spain: Entry visa is required / France: Entry visa is required]

Bolivia: The VOA is available when you arrive at La Paz airport for a $52 fee.

Bhutan: You can stay up to 14 days without the requirement of a tourist visa, but do need a visitor’s permit.

Bermuda: If you are an Indian national residing in USA, Canada or EU, or you have a visa to enter these countries, then you don’t need a visa to Bermuda for a stay of up to 21 days.

Costa Rica: If you are an Indian national residing in USA, Canada or EU, or you have a visa to enter these countries, then you don’t need a visa to Bermuda for a stay of up to 30 days.

Cook Islands: You can stay up to 31 days without the requirement of a tourist visa.

Dubai: You need a sponsor to get you a visa. You can avail of visa facilities while flying with Emirates Airlines.
Ethiopia: You can get a tourist visa on arrival for 30 days maximum stay.

El Salvador: You can get a VOA when you buy a $10 tourist card for staying for a maximum period of up to 3 months. During these 90 days, you can also travel to Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

Fiji: You can stay up to 120 days without the requirement of a tourist visa.
Hong Kong: You can get an entry stamp at the Hong Kong airport and can stay up to 14 days without the requirement of a tourist visa

Requirements: (1) You should submit proof of having enough funds for your entire stay. (2) You must have the requisite travel documents which includes visas & tickets either to a next destination or a back home. The tickets should be confirmed ones and not waiting tickets.

Indonesia: You can get a tourist visa on arrival for 30 days maximum stay.

Iran: Get a 1 week tourist visa on arrival at following airports: (i) Imam Khomeini (RA); (ii) Mehrabad; (iii) Mashhad; (iv) Shiraz; (v) Tabriz.

Kenya: The Visa on Arrival is given to Indians for $50 for maximum stay of 3 months. However, it is mandatory to get a yellow fever vaccination certificate. You can also get an extension for a further period of 3 months.
Requirements: (1)Make sure that your passport has a blank page for the visa endorsement.(2)Make sure you have proof that you have sufficient funds for your entire stay. (3)Make sure that you have the requisite documents to proceed to your next destination.

Laos: You can get a tourist visa on arrival for 30 days maximum stay.

Macau: You can stay up to 14 days without the requirement of a tourist visa.

Madagascar: You can obtain a VOA at the main international airport, which is the Antananarivo airport. There are no charges. For a 30 day stay. If you decide to stay for up to 90 days, then you need to pay for the multiple entry visa ($84).

Mozambique: VOA is available for a stay of 30 days, the fee being $80.

Mauritius: You can get a tourist visa on arrival at the airport, which is valid for 60 days.

Maldives: You can get a tourist visa on arrival for free for a stay of 30 days.

Nepal: An Indian citizen does not need a visa to visit Nepal, but you need to show documentary proof of Indian citizenship. You can obtain a single entry visa for a stay of up to 150 days.

Puerto Rico: No entry documents are required if you enter Puerto Rico directly from USA, Alaska, Guam, Hawaii, US Virgin Islands.

Seychelles: VOA is issued to Indians on arrival without any charges. You can use your visitor’s permit for your visit of 4 weeks (that would be 1 month), which can be further extended for up to 3 months from the date of issue. You can even get further extensions.

Requirements: (1) You must have a passport which is valid on the date of entry to Seychelles as well as on exiting from Seychelles. (2) You must have a return ticket or a ticket which is proof of an onward destination. (3) You must have some proof of accommodation & contact information details.(4) You must have proof of having sufficient funds for your entire stay.

Saint Kitts and Nevis: VOA is issued free of charge for a maximum stay of 3 months.

Requirements: (1)You must be able to provide some proof of having enough funds for your stay. (2) You must have proof of return or an onward ticket.

St. Lucia: A VOA is available for $50 for a maximum stay of 6 weeks

Requirement: You must submit proof of having enough funds for your stay.

Scotland: You can enter with a UK visa

Tonga, Nauru: You can stay up to 30 days without the requirement of a tourist visa.

Tanzania: You can get a tourist visa on arrival for 90 days maximum stay.

Thailand: An Indian citizen can get a VOA for $35 for a stay ranging between 15 and 30 days.

Turkey: You can get a visa on arrival for a charge of $20 if you have an existing visa of USA, UK or a Schengen visa.

Wales: You can enter with a UK visa
