How to deal with motion sickness
Quite a few people suffer from nausea & bouts of vomiting while traveling, some in all modes of travel while others in certain modes only. While motion sickness is often mild and tends to end on arrival at a destination, in some cases it could be so severe that a physician is the best person to consult to deal with it.
8. When seated on a boat cruise or in a train or even in a large road vehicle with seating space in the back, select a front-facing seat.
Tips for dealing with motion sickness
2. Avoid eating a large meal just prior to traveling. You can avoid eating or drinking if it is a short trip of a couple of hours, while for a long trip stick to biscuits, soup, fresh fruit, toast & similar very light food.
3. Before you set out, you can take ginger tea. In fact, simply chewing on a 1 ½ inch piece of ginger on the day you travel is very effective to deal with nausea.
4. If possible, sip on a little lime juice once in a while during your travel.
5. If you face nausea during long road trips, whether in a car, a bus or a train, then avoid looking at object which are close to you. This is because the balance between your eyes & inner ears gets disturbed. Hence, look out of the window at distant trees, hills, buildings, etc.
6. As mentioned in the above point, when traveling on a ship also you should avoid looking at close objects, such as looking out of the port hole of your cabin at the waves or at nearby boats. Instead, try to go up on the deck and stare at the distant horizon.
7. Completely avoid reading while traveling.

9. Don’t stare at a fellow traveler who is suffering from motion sickness. In fact, don’t even talk to such people as they tend to unburden their woes on you!
10. Regular yoga exercises are known to help those suffering from motion sickness as such exercises create balance in your mind & body.
