Where to buy fabric cloth material in Vapi market Gujarat

Surat is known to be the primary hub of fabrics, sarees, anarkalis, and the like and Valsad also has a huge market of retail stores selling materials and garments. Vapi, on the other hand, is referred to as an industrial city and corporate houses often schedule business meetings in the hotels here. Nevertheless, Vapi, too, has a buzzing marketplace and a walk around will spring little surprises if you are looking for fabric. On a recent visit, we did find some good places to buy fabric at reasonable wholesale rates. While the Bazaar Road that leads from Vapi railway station on the west side is the main shopping center, there are a few shops on the east side as well, on Koparli road and around Gunjan circle, ahead of Galaxy High Street.

Vardhaman Matching Centre

What is available:  Other than material, they sell readymade kurtas and dupattas.

Recommended:  Batik, and cotton material. They also have a superb colour range of material for asthar (inner fabric to wear if the cloth of your garment is transparent or the garment has a lot of embroidery and you want to protect the threads from unravelling).

Material for Asthar

Price: One of the few retail shops having cotton material at Rs.100/- per meter. Batik is Rs.150/- per meter. Asthar is Rs.30/- per meter.

Where it is located: Adarsh Vihar Shopping Centre, 16, Koparli Rd, Housing Sector, GIDC, Vapi, Gujarat 396195. Landmark: Opposite Low Price Supermarket. Timings: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Chacha’s Fabrics

What is available: All the possible types of fabrics that you can think of!

Recommended: Anything that catches your fancy! Huge range of colours, too, and you can get at wholesale rates.

Price: Starting at Rs.100/- per meter for simple cotton fabric, and then Rs.150 upwards depending on the type of fabric.

Fabrics in the shop

Where it is located: Ibrahim Market, 1st floor, Bazar Rod, Vapi-396191. Hot tip: Don’t bother locating this shop with Google maps. The map directions were woefully inadequate because (a) the main road is known as Bazaar Road and very few people know about Ibrahim market and (b) the shop is not fronting the road, but up a flight of stairs that is accessed via the path between two shops – on your right as you face the building, you will see Sunder Jewellers and on your left, you will see Bombay Cloth Stores. You have to enter the gap between these two. On the ground floor, you will see ‘Chacha Matching Centre’. Go straight, though, and you will see the banner of ‘Chacha’s Fabrics’ with the arrow pointing towards the staircase. The shop is on the first floor. See the image below to understand its location. 

Note- no parking space anywhere down this road. Best to take an auto.

Fabric Khazana

What is available: Various types of printed fabric, including cotton, polyester, and viscose.

Recommended: Katha fabric, any of the Floral prints as per the type of fabric you want (we bought modal fabric here.)

Price: Rs. 150/- upwards per meter. Check out discounted prices on their website that are offered during special sales.

Where it is located: This is actually their office and not a store as such, but they do have a few bales of fabric on a couple of racks. It is suggested to buy from them online as you can see the entire range of products. The address that we visited is up one flight of spiral stairs and we had to carefully step over stray dogs having their noon siesta on the steps!
