N S Apartments Lavinia Sri Lanka review

Staying & eating out in Sri Lanka is on the slightly expensive side. Hence, it is a sensible idea to try to save some of your Sri Lankan rupees by finding a good serviced apartment for accommodation during your trip. 

 There are a good number of such apartments where you feel right at home, with all the requisite modern facilities available, including a useful kitchenette. One such apartment is the N S Apartments at Mount Lavinia, which is reviewed below.

The N S Apartments are located just a little over 30kms from the Colombo International Airport & approximately 8 km from the capital city of Colombo. Besides being accessible to local train & bus stations, the N S Apartments is within close distance of Mount Lavinia beach, one of the most popular tourist spots in Sri Lanka.

You can opt for a single or double-room apartment, both of which are air-conditioned. The single-room apartment where we stayed had its own kitchenette area with a refrigerator & the main room had a dining table in addition to comfortable chairs. The bedroom also was comfortable & not cramped, with a rack to hang your clothes (a rare sight in most places where you stay ~ where on earth are you supposed to put wet clothes?!). The bathroom is clean with hot & cold running water.

The tariff includes taxes & cleaning as well as electricity. Bed linen and towels are also provided, but there is a strict rule that you should not use these towels for your beach trip! So it is advisable to pack in beach towels on your trip. For meals, you need to give advance notice.

Overall it was a definitely good place to stay & is highly recommended.

What's mentioned in the title of this post are three of the items on the menu which you should not miss out on, when dining at Café Trofima restaurant in Mumbai city. When it opened a year ago, the restaurant had a menu which was limited for vegetarians and was predominantly non-vegetarian food. On our second visit today, we were happy to see a much improved menu, both in terms of the menu layout itself (previously it was just a large sheet of thick paper, much like a large pamphlet, frayed at the edges. Now it is a cheery orange and blue one on the inside, albeit a dull brown outside though. There are more options for vegetarians as well. It goes without saying that, a year on, the prices have shot up too!!
